Free live sound listening check

Feedback frequency test for live sound

Practise one part of feedback response: hearing a simulated ring and forming a frequency hypothesis. The no-signup browser check can reveal a repeatable listening target, but the correct venue move still depends on the microphone, loudspeaker path, routing, gain, geometry, and room.

The listening check is practice with simulated audio. It is not a venue ring-out, system measurement, fault diagnosis, or hearing assessment.

01 · Orient

Understand the problem first

What is happening

A vocal mic starts to ring, the room looks at the booth, and you need to cut the right band fast.

What this guide helps decide

Find out whether you can identify the frequency that is feeding back.

02 · Use the method

Stabilize, trace the path, change one variable.

Working method

Stop or lower the immediate risk first. Trace the source, microphone, routing, bus, loudspeaker, geometry, and room path. Form one hypothesis from listening plus available measurement, change one reversible variable, then restore and compare before stacking another move.

Scope limit

Browser audio depends on playback hardware and listening level. Use it to practise recognition, then verify decisions on the actual PA with venue procedures and a qualified operator. Protect hearing: never provoke feedback during a show or run an uncontrolled high-level test.

03 · Work the order

Work through the problem in order

  1. 1

Set playback to a comfortable level, then listen to the simulated ring.

Proof before the next move: You can replay the cue without raising playback to chase detail.

  2. 2

Choose the band that best matches what you heard.

Proof before the next move: Your answer is a listening hypothesis, not a measurement of a PA or room.

  3. 3

Read the run result and isolate the band or contrast that caused the misses.

Proof before the next move: You can name one next listening target without treating one score as certification.

  4. 4

Continue into the matching rep, then verify real venue decisions with the correct path and measurement tools.

Proof before the next move: Browser evidence stays separate from any claim about a live system.

04 · Choose a rep

Choose what to practise next

Each card opens the named rep, not a generic product doorway. Main Act may ask you to sign in before protected practice.

Practise what you just read

Practise the decision in Main Act.

Use the feedback check for one low-risk listening cue, or browse the full Live Sound practice library for the complete decision. Browser practice does not diagnose a venue problem.

The listening check needs no signup. Protected practice may ask you to sign in; saving remains optional.

05 · Resolve the edges

Questions

Do I need a PA to take the test?

No. The test runs in the browser with headphones or speakers, so you can practice before you get to the room.

What happens after the test?

Your result names a listening target and points into Live Sound reps. It does not identify a venue fault, choose an EQ move, or certify feedback response under show conditions.
